The Zanu PF Borrowdale 18 District is calling for the ouster of Central Committee member Justice Zvandasara whom is accused of being a land baron using the party’s name to further his own gains.
In a letter of complaint dated June 20 directed to the Deputy National Commissar Omega Hungwe, Zvandasara was accused of grave crimes including sabotaging party support in Harare Province as a result of his ‘conduct.’
The letter states that Zvandasara entered into a contractual agreement with CBZ bank to construct a parking bay at the Borrowdale party offices on behalf of the party without following due processes.
“Zvandasara entered a contract with CBZ to construct a parking bay at our party office without the consent of the chairman of the district or the custodian of the premises,” the letter reads.
“CBZ representatives informed that they had come into agreement with Zvandasara to put 40 parking bays which they would be paying a rental of $40 per bay every month giving a total of $1 600 thereof.
“A deposit had already been paid into a fund that is claimed to be meant for assisting women from the district.”
It is alleged that Zvandasara was using the party’s name to further his own interests.
The letter further states that he had become a land baron tarnishing the party’s name as he used it in his dealings.
“They (Zvandasara and his accomplices) have since turned the party office into a place for land barons. Innocent party cadres and others whom we wished would join the party have lost stands and their money to Zvandasara and his gang.”
“We are appealing for intervention in our district to have the committee vacating our premises and district,”
Zvandasara was once convicted by a Harare regional magistrate on allegations of selling residential stands to over 1 000 home-seekers on a piece of land that belonged to Mutare South MP Nyasha Chikwinya (Zanu PF) and Jonathan Gapare.
However the conviction was overturned by the High court on the basis that Zvandasara had been wrongfully convicted.
Zvandasara could not be contacted for comment as his mobile phone was not reachable at the time of writing.
The allegations comes at a time when the ZANU PF youth league is on anti- corruption crusade weeding out corrupt big wigs and the deputy secretary for youth affairs Lewis Matutu vowed to expose land barons next week.
