Land Commissioners clash with beneficiaries in Midlands

Land commissioners led by Justice Uchena who are probing urban land use clashed with beneficiaries in Midlands last week, the Zim Morning Post has learnt.

Sources said the commissioners summoned River Valley Properties led by developer Smelly Dube to respond to a cocktail of allegations.

“The commissioners allege that River Valley Properties did not properly service the residential stands which were sold to the residents.

“They also say beneficiaries are being forced to pay their premiums in United States Dollars,” said the source.

“Some beneficiaries thronged the Village Lodge where public hearings took place but were no afforded an opportunity to respond.”

Sources also said the payment of premiums in US dollars is optional.

Dube, who is one of the emerging female property mogul, has been developing and selling residential stands and houses in Gweru, Shurugwi and Zvishavane.

The hearing continues Thursday.
