We paid the Warriors: Government

Acting Sports minister Kazembe Kazembe said government paid the Warriors their allowances as was promised.

Speaking to this publication on his arrival from Egypt Kazembe said government and the Warriors fundraising committee paid the Warriors $108 000 before the Uganda match and another $108 000 after the match.

We paid them the other $108 000 that I had promised them after the Uganda match. We paid them $108 000 before the match and promised them another $108 000 after the match and we have just done that.

This has nothing to do with ZIFA. We don’t want to get entangled in the ZIFA contractual issues. We raised money for the Warriors and we are simply ensuring that money goes to the Warriors . We will not interfere with their arrangements with ZIFA,” said Kazembe.

The Warriors have been engaged in running battles with Zifa since their opening match in Cairo.

They demanded payments of $12 000 each and at times threatened to withdraw from the continental tournament.
