The Dynamos football club and its supporters are gathered at the RGM International Airport, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the body of their beloved ex-player, George Chigova, who tragically passed away in South Africa. Chigova’s untimely death on the 15th of November is suspected to be due to a heart attack.

Fond Memories of Brotherhood

Munyaradzi Diya, a former national team friend of George, expressed his profound grief over the loss of his brother. Contrary to popular assumptions, Diya revealed that their relationship extended far beyond mere competition on the field. Despite playing for rival teams, Diya for Highlander and George for Dembare, they shared a bond of brotherhood. “I’ve lost a brother,” Diya said, emphasizing their mutual support and Chigova’s humble, loving, and dedicated nature.

Even after Jojola’s move to South Africa, Diya cited that they remained connected and continued to inspire each other. “We looked up to each other even after he went to South Africa; we kept in touch. We were more like family,” Diya fondly remarked.

Heartfelt Words from Mukamba

Denver Mukamba, a current player for Dynamos, also expressed his sorrow at the loss of Jojola. Having known each other since their early days in Highfield, they had shared many football experiences together. Mundikumbuke and Jojola played together at Dembare and won the league title together before moving to South Africa. Denver described George as a good and quiet person, making his passing even more painful. “It’s very painful to lose him, he was a good person and quiet,” Mukamba lamented.

The arrival of Chigova’s body at the airport marks the beginning of the mourning period for Dynamos and its supporters. The funeral arrangements are underway, and the entire football fraternity joins together in bidding farewell to a beloved player, friend, and brother.
