Van Choga Disses Fellow Musician Holy Ten
Van Choga, a Zimbabwean musician known for his energetic and eccentric style, has released a new song that dissed his fellow rapper Holy Ten. The song, titled *HOLYTEND DISS*, was uploaded on Audiomack and YouTube on June 13, 2023¹².
In the song, Van Choga accuses Holy Ten of being a fake and a coward who rejected his own child. He also mocks Holy Ten’s appearance, music, and popularity. He raps:
You are not a king of hip hop, you are a king of flop
You are not a holy ten, you are a holy ten cents
You are not a new bhundu boy, you are a new bundu boy
You are not a rapper, you are a napper
The diss song comes after Holy Ten made controversial statements about his collaboration with Winky D on the song *Ibotso*, which was released in May 2023. Holy Ten said he regretted featuring on the song, which was widely seen as a critique of the Zanu-PF government. He claimed that “activists, journalists, and lawyers” had politicized the project and that he did not want to be associated with politics⁴.
Holy Ten, whose real name is Mukudzei Chitsama, is a popular Zimbabwean rapper, songwriter, and producer who rose to fame in 2019 with his album *Suicide Notes*. He has since released several hit songs such as *Kumba Kune Vanhu*, *Ndaremerwa*, and *Mwana Ndakubirai*. He has also collaborated with other artists such as Takura, Poptain, and ProBeatz⁵⁶.
Van Choga and Holy Ten have not yet responded to each other’s songs publicly. However, some fans have expressed their opinions on social media, with some siding with Van Choga and others with Holy Ten. Some have also called for peace and unity among Zimbabwean musicians.
It remains to be seen whether this beef will escalate or fizzle out in the near future. What do you think of Van Choga’s diss song? Do you agree or disagree with his claims? Let us know in the comments below.
