THREE people died Friday morning when a bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident at the corner of Robert Mugabe and Chiremba roads, leaving others critically injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver failed to negotiate a sharp turn, resulting in the bus over turning.
The bus – which was ferrying people from Epworth into the city centre – is said to have been overloaded and speeding.
Police could not be immediately available for comment, but this reporter arrived at the scene, shortly after the fatal accident.
The identities of the deceased will be reaveld after the next of kin is notified.
Zimbabwe is currently enduring massive price hikes, prompting many travellers to resort to old buses which are affordable.
Epworth residents have often complained about being left out and not allocated Zupco buses which Harare dwellers say provide them with a cheaper and safer mode of transport.
