Suspected armed robber appears in court

SUSPECTED armed robber Carlington Marasha (29)  on Tuesday appeared at the Harare magistrate’s court to answer to his charges.

Marasha allegedly committed this offence with his accomplices who are still at large.

On September 25, 2019 around 2:30am, accused and his accomplices allegedly went to complainant, Freedom Mutingwende’s residence while armed with iron bars and a pistol.

Accused and accomplices are said to have smashed Mutingwende’s door with an object not known to gain entry into the house.

They allegedly manhandled the complainant after entering, and tied his hands from behind.

Marasha and his partners searched the house and stole an I phone 5 cellphone, US$150 and ZWL80, J7 samsung cellphone, solar light and a 20litre jerry can of fuel.

The value of stolen property is US$150 and ZWL800.

On December 18, detectives received information which led to the arrest of the accused person in Mbare.

Complainant’s cellphone was allegedly found in accused’s wardrobe as well as some stolen items.

Value of property recovered is US$150.

Accused is claimed to have been found in possession of a stolen radio.

Marasha was further remanded to January 14 due to pending finalisation of investigations, he is to apply for bail at the High court.
