BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe — Simba Bhora have claimed the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title with two games to spare, securing a 1-0 victory over relegated Arenel Movers at Luveve Stadium on Wednesday.
The Shamva-based team’s historic win, sealed by a single goal from captain Walter Musona, has made them the first club from Mashonaland Central to capture the league title. Musona’s goal, his 10th of the season, clinched the three points needed for Simba Bhora to be crowned champions, marking a milestone achievement in their debut season at the top level.
With this victory, Simba Bhora have now joined the exclusive ranks of clubs outside Harare and Bulawayo to lift the league trophy. Under the leadership of coach Tonderai Ndiraya, the team has set a new standard, going unbeaten at their home ground this season. They are on track to complete the season with a flawless home record if they avoid defeat against FC Platinum in their next fixture at Wadzanai Stadium.
The champions will conclude their season against ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga Stadium. Looking ahead, Simba Bhora will represent Zimbabwe in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, marking a significant step for the club and Mashonaland Central’s football history.
