Rafingora Man Arrested for Murdering Drinking Buddy in Beer-Fueled Brawl
A 34-year-old man from Rafingora has been arrested, along with his female accomplice, for allegedly murdering their drinking buddy during a beer-fueled brawl.
Brutal Assault at Cornrise Farm Shops
Takeson Nyanzama and his partner, Prudence Nyamukondiwa, are accused of brutally assaulting 35-year-old Tembo on May 19th at the Cornrise Farm Shops in Rafingora. According to reports, the three were drinking beer together when a dispute erupted. The misunderstanding unfortunately led Nyanzama to attack Tembo with a log, with Nyamukondiwa’s assistance.

Tragic Outcome
Tembo was then rescued by his brother who took him to Rafingora Rural Hospital. Unfortunately, he lost his life on the 25th of May at Sally Mugabe Hospital in Harare.

Court Proceedings
Nyanzama and Prudence appeared before Chinhoi Magistrate Court facing murder charges. They were remanded in custody to the 14th of June. “The accused persons were remanded in custody to the 14th of June 2024,” read the NPAZ press statement.
Shop Owner Accused of Shooting Employee Over Beer Shortage
In a separate incident, a 41-year-old Shurungwi man, Tawanda Darangwa, has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for attempted murder.

The court heard that on September 22nd, 2021, Darangwa, a shop owner, went to his establishment to purchase beer. When his employee informed him that they had run out, an argument ensued, and Darangwa allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot the complainant in the shoulder.

Darangwa was initially sentenced to 5 years in prison, but 2 years were suspended, meaning he will serve 3 years behind bars.
