Mnangagwa spearheads Bulawayo manufacturing industry revival

PRESIDENT  Emmerson Mnangagwa has thrown his weight in support of the private sector and local authorities in revitalising of the productive sector in Bulawayo industries.

Mnangagwa’s immediate focus is directed at reclaiming the domestic market, which has been dominated by cheap imports following the collapse of several firms in recent years, the revival of Bulawayo industries should also be aimed at expanding the supply market beyond regional borders.

Mnangagwa is set to meet local authorities this week  on November 14, at a  conference on  revival of industries and commerce in Bulawayo.

The 78th Annual Conference and Local Government Investment Conference (LOGIC) 2019,  will be attended  by councilors.

According to a circular from the Urban Councils Association of Zimbabwe (Ucaz), Mnangagwa “would like to meet all urban councillors at this event”.

The President will be guest of honour  at the Premier Councils’ Investment conference.

Logic is a brainchild of the Urban Local Authorities which is convened after every two years to woo local, regional and international investors and allow for various key speakers and captains of industry to interface with urban councils on one forum.

Conferences and meetings have been pivotal in the revival and sustenance of industries and commerce in Bulawayo.

The urban councils’ interface with Mnangagwa comes hard on the heels of a similar engagement with councillors from rural councils.

The convention was held at a  Harare hotel a fortnight ago.

Meanwhile, Ucaz President and Gweru mayor, Josiah Makombe recently had this to say:

“We are happy to be hosting our fourth LOGIC conference where we are expecting the President to be the guest of honour

Councillor Makombe said the conference was meant to promote investment opportunities in all local authorities across the country.

“We will have two days of conferencing and a day of exhibiting, which will also be followed up by a workshop on procurement and the annual general meeting,” he said.
