MASHONALAND Central Zanu PF leadership has been living lavishly at the expense of their party, amid accusations that their main focus has been to accumulate wealth while party business suffers a knock.
MDC party provincial chairperson George Gwarada dared the five Cabinet ministers who visited Mazowe and Eureka mines recently on a “fact finding mission”, alleging they were also responsible for sponsoring artisanal mining activities in the province, including those of the machete-wielding MaShurugwi who have often been accused of a terrorising the area.
Gwarada claimed that the government ministers had clandestinely visited the illegal artisanal gold miners at their Mazowe and Eureka homes.
“They visited the homes of the artisanal miners at Mazowe and Eureka. What for? We all know that Zanu PF leaders are behind the machete-wielding gold panners,” Gwarada said.
Ministers who visited the province where rampant illegal mining activities are happening include Mines minister Winston Chitando, Energy minister Fortune Chasi, Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa, Information and Communication Technology minister Kazembe Kazembe as well as Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs minister Monica Mavhunga.
Many Zanu PF leaders are said to own most Jumbo mines and have become very rich while their party and majority Zimbabweans live from hand to mouth.
