Zinara scandal: Matiza suspends Board chair over corruption

TRANSPORT and Infrastructure development minister Joe Matiza has suspended Zinara Board chairperson Micheal Madanha over corruption allegations, among them giving 1 800 litres of fuel to journalists as bribe.

Allegations against Madanha are that sometime in April 2019, he instructed Finance Director Simon Taranhike to give a Zinara petrol facility to ZBC employee in the form of Redan Puma coupons amounting to 1 800 litres without following due procedures, in the process prejudicing the organisation of $6 354.

Taranhike was arrested for abusing Zinara funds but was later acquitted at the High Court.

In acquitting Taranhike, the courts concluded that he was acting on the orders of Madanha.
