Macheso, Sulu headline Mutare

MUTARE – The country’s top musicians Alick Macheso and Sulumani
Chimbetu are set to perform on Friday at Mutare’s top entertainment
haven – The Platinum Bar – in a potentially explosive music carnival which kicks off at 1900hrs.

The mouth-watering entertainment dish will see arguably the country’s
most revered performers sparring in an enticing musical contest that
is expected to draw a gigantic crowd considering that the two top
artists had last jointly performed in the eastern border city after a
long time.

Extra Basso, as Macheso is commonly known in the musical circles last
performed in a packed same venue last April and left the audience captivated with his breathtaking guitar playing antics and splendid stage work by his entourage – The Orchestra Mberikwazvo.

Macheso will be riding on his extremely triumphant album –Dzinosvitsa
Kure – that is currently at peak.

The exceptional bass guitarist has never disappointed each time he has
performed at the colossal venue and on Friday night he is expected to be at his best, as he belts popular tracks that have kept his loyal fans at tender hooks.

Songs like Kudzwai, Ndakakutadzirei, Vane Zvavanoda and Madzitete from the latest offering, among others, have been very popular during live shows.

The fans will be in a potential treat as they will relish Macheso’s
live performances laden with heavy and intricate guitars.
As usual the dancers led by Selemani “MaJuice” Mposhi will be
available to enthuse the audience with their exhilarating choreography.

Sulu as Chimbetu is affectionately known by his legions of fans last
performed at the same venue in May and is expected to take the Dendera music faithful to another levels as he samples songs from his long awaited and yet to be named album.

The song Ndunge seems to have struck the right codes.

Sulu has never disappointed fans in Mutare and he is coming on the
backdrop of his last offering – Jamboree – released in 2017. The song Alice Mbewe has been a trump card.

Chimbetu becomes a crowd puller when he plays songs from his late
father Simon and the old school hits like Samatenga, Saina, Magobo,
Pane Asipo, Ndarangarira Gamba and Pindirai among others have made his live shows a must attend.

The song Sean Timba has been a revelation and the fans are in for
another remarkable treat said a highly elated Chimbetu:

“This is a show we have been waiting for. Mutare has a legion of Dendera music fans and we have taken heed of their cries. We last come there ages ago and we know this is going to be a show to remember.”

He added: “We will be sampling new songs from our forthcoming album which will hit the streets soon. Our outfit is ready for the Mutare
outing and we are glad that this is a show that will mean a lot to all
our Dendera music lovers, as we will be re-uniting with them.”

The show promoter, popular businessman and philanthropist Isau Mupfumi said it was a rare opportunity to bring the two top stars together.

“This will be a show of a lifetime. It is a big show that will see the
fans in Mutare enjoying quality entertainment that brings Zimbabwe’s
cream together. I therefore invite all the music lovers to come in
their numbers and enjoy the show,”
said Mupfumi.
