Machakaire engages grassroots in fight against drug usage

Zanu PF secretary for youth affairs, Tino Machakaire, is following President Mnangagwa’s lead by combating drug and substance misuse at the community level and helping communities stop engaging in such behaviors.

President Mnangagwa recently advised people to refrain from using drugs and alcohol, and he said the government will soon change the legislation on harmful substances so that stiffer penalties would deter vice.

He asserted that parents must actively work to prevent their children from consuming drugs. He recommended parents to contact the police if they are having trouble controlling their children.

Machakaire, a distinguished businessman, MP for Wedza South, and deputy minister of youth and sport, pleaded with Marange Church to educate young people against drug use.

At a recent groundbreaking ceremony in Macheke, where Johane Marange Church is building two schools, St. Johns Primary and Secondary, Hon. Machakaire spoke out against drug and substance addiction, claiming it is impeding the nation’s growth.

Drug usage among our children is a critical issue that now faces our country, Machakaire remarked.

“I am happy that the body of Christ is helping vulnerable children in our communities. If these children do not have anything to do, they will indulge in drug abuse,” Machakaire said.

“Assisting children and giving them education, keeping them occupied will help them in being focused and avoid all illegal activities. I commend you Bethesda Apostolic Church for what you are doing for the children.”

Machakaire said the church in Marange was the among the few churches where youth have not yet started doing drugs.

“Ndoda kukutendai mutumwa waMwari nedzidziso yamunoisa kuvana nedzidziso yamunoisa mumatiri mhuri yenyu kuti zvinodhaka ndozviri kuuraya nyika yedu Kuwanda kurikuita zvikoro kunoita kuti vanhu vane vana vanoda kuwana zvekuita vauye kuzvikoro zvino ndinodaira chikoro chino (St John) hachitore vana vekwaMarange chete..
