PROMINENT preacher Uebert Angel has rolled out food aid to Hatfield families on Sunday, as part of the US$1 million set aside to fight against COVID-19 pandemic in four Southern African countries including Zimbabwe.
The roll out is being done under the arms of Uebert Angel Foundation.
“The donation is coming through the foundation, which is the charity wing of our structures. We have identified areas of need in Botswana, Zambia and of course Zimbabwe,” said church official Pastor Felix.
Speaking at the handover ceremony at Jairos Jiri centre, Pastor Felix said they will be assisting vulnerable families across the country.
“The foundation has so far distributed food aid in seven areas of Harare we are giving 10 kilograms of mealie meal and food hampers,” he said.
“We did not start this because of the COVID-19 pandemic, its part of our philanthropic mission,” he added.
The foundation is also identifying schools and paying fees.
Hatfield Member of Parliament Tapiwa Mashakada extended his appreciation of the gesture.
“This is a relief to those who have been affected by the lockdown.
“On behalf of the people of Hatfield we want to thank the foundation for the food aid,” he said.
“The food aid is not of the Zanu-PF or MDC people it’s for all of us regardless of which party you belong to, “Mashakada said.
