MDC Alliance Harare West MP Joana Mamombe, Cecilia and Netsai Marova were arrested at a Road Block near National Sports Stadium.
The trio were part of demonstrators who staged a flash demo in Warren Park demanding the government to intervene with food aid during the lockdown.
Speaking to Zim Morning Post MDC Youth Assembly Secretary General Ostalos Siziba said that his Youth Assembly members were still to be located and the major thing which pushed people to be in the streets was hunger.
“The last message we heard from Joana (Mamombe) was that they have been arrested at Harare Showground but a follow up has not showed where they are being kept,” Siziba said
The country is already facing its worst economic crisis in nearly 10 years and the coronavirus lockdown measures are threatening the livelihoods of people.
All citizens were ordered to stay at home, except for essential movements related to seeking health services or the purchase of food, among others.
However Zanu PF Director of information Tafadzwa Mugwadi said that the trio and other members who staged the demonstration should face the consequences.
“It was expected, MDC is known for breaking the law but they was no reason whatsoever to break the law on COVID-19 as the whole world is concetrating in fighting this pandemic, MDC should face the Music, ” He said
