AN unidentified soldier based at Battlefields was on Wednesday shot dead after his involvement with artisanal miners who had tried to disarm security guards at Good Hope mine, Zim Morning Post can reveal.
“They invaded the mine armed with machetes and the security tried to disperse them but they resisted, leading to one of them being shot dead,” Zim Morning Post was told.
Reports indicate that at least three police officers were arrested on Tuesday afternoon in connection with the matter.
The officers in question, who were allegedly clad in full anti-riot gear include one Homela Brian (force number 070566BC), T Jonas (force number 087913GS) and another officer stationed at Kwekwe District Headquarters whose name is yet to be supplied.
They are all in police custody.
