THE late Sungura musician Leonard Dembo’s son Morgan was assaulted at his homestead by neighbours with fists and a baton, intending to cause bodily harm over a reason not yet known.
Accused Persy Ushe and Paul Zhanero on Thursday appeared at the Magistrates’ Courts facing charges of assaulting the complainant, Morgan Tazvivinga Dembo, with clenched fists and a baton on November 16.
The accused persons had no right to assault the complainant.
Morgan was awakened by his mother, Eunice Munatsi at 1am, who informed him that there were people outside calling him.
Complainant went outside and Zhanero jumped over the perimeter scale into Tazvivinga’s residence.
It was then Zhanero assaulted Tazvivinga all over the body.
Ushe also jumped over and held the complainant’s hands from behind while his accomplice assaulted Tazvivinga.
The alleged assault only came to an end after complainant’s mother intervened to stop the two alleged assailants.
Morgan is said to have suffered a swollen forehead, swollen wrists and a shaky tooth.
Accuser’s medical report may be produced in court as exhibit.
Morgan is a musician in his own right and along with his sibling Tendai, they took over their late father’s band, Barura Express.
He was later to be kicked out for drunken behaviour.
