Nkosana Nkala(34), who was hired as a gardener in December 2023, managed to dupe the company’s director through a series of deceptive tactics. According to reports, Nkala contacted the company director via WhatsApp. He informed him that he was ZACC undercover agent sent to conduct internal investigations.

Exploiting the Director’s Trust

From that moment on, the director found it increasingly difficult to assign Nkala any tasks. Nkala then began working part-time and demanding full payment for his sporadic attendance.

The director complied with his terms as he assumed that after Nkala finishes the ZACC task, the ZACC was going to compensate them the salaries they were giving him.

The Extortion Attempt

After several months, Nkala approached the director again, claiming that he had concluded an investigation. He told him that he had discovered that one of the employees was attempting to steal from the company. He then proceeded to extort the director, demanding an additional US$400 on top of his salary to “protect him and his company.”

The Unraveling of the Scheme

Eventually, the director’s patience wore thin, and he decided to reach out to ZACC directly. The investigation that followed revealed that Nkala was, in fact, a “bogus agent,” leading to his immediate arrest.
