HARARE – The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League witnessed some thrilling action on Sunday as three of the league’s heavyweights recorded important victories.
Highlanders reclaimed the top spot on the log after edging Bulawayo Chiefs 1-0 at Babourfields Stadium, thanks to Mbongeni Ndlovu’s header in the first half. The win ended Bosso’s five-match drawing streak and gave coach Baltemar Brito some breathing space.
Dynamos also returned to winning ways after thrashing ZPC Kariba 3-0 at the National Sports Stadium. Elton Chikona opened the scoring for DeMbare before Donald Mudadi netted a brace to seal the win. The result eased the pressure on coach Hebert Maruwa, who was reportedly facing the sack after a five-match winless run.
Defending champions FC Platinum kept their title hopes alive with a narrow 1-0 win over Green Fuel at Gibbo Stadium. Panashe Mutimbanyoka scored the decisive goal in the second half to lift the platinum miners to second place on the table, level on points with Chicken Inn but with a superior goal difference.
