Glen Norah man nabed for attempted murder

A 25-YEAR-OLD Harare man on Monday appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts facing charges of attempting to kill an 18-year-old man.

The alleged crime was committed in Glen Norah.

Accused, Shawn Bwanali, is facing allegations of attempting to murder James Pfachi.

Bwanali and Pfachi are not related.

Bwanali appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.

The State’s case is that on January 25 in Glennorah, Harare, accused person and complainant were walking on the same road but headed in different directions.

Bwanali was allegedly holding an axe in his hands.

When Pfachi was a few metres away from the accused, he allegedly felt a sharp pain in his upper back.

The complainant the realised that Bwanali had allegedly struck him with the axe he was holding.

Pfachi is said to have succeeded in wrestling the axe from the accused person.

Complainant allegedly sustained a deep cut on the upper back from the attack.

Mugwagwa ruled that Bwanali should be examined by doctors to ascertain if he is a psychiatric patient.

The magistrate also ruled that complainant be examined since he now claimed he was assaulted by police officers at Glen Norah A Police Station.

Accused was remanded to February 10.
