Game on…. as domestic soccer league resumes

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) resumes this Saturday after the domestic league had been suspended to pave way for the senior national soccer team – the Warriors who were participating in the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The Warriors are expected back home on Tuesday after a nightmarish outing which saw them booted out of the tournament in the group stage with Democratic Republic of Congo putting the final nail in their coffin with a 0-4 battering on Sunday.

This Saturday is Match Day 13 and is filled with cut throat fixtures which will see Ngezi Platinum clashing against Highlanders at home in Baobab Stadium , ZPC will face Caps United at Nyamhunga Stadium in Kariba and on Sunday Dynamos  will play against the airmen of Chapungu at its favourite hunting ground Rufaro Stadium in the capital.

PSL media liason officer Kudzai Bare confirmed the fixtures.

Meanwhile, ZIFA has issued an apology on the Warriors below par performance which resembled a page taken off a horror movie script.

School boy errors by goal minder Elvis Chipezeze, skipper Knowledge Musona’s blunt boots in front of goal coupled with individual showboating by some players in a bid to impress international scouts cost the team .

The ZIFA administration also dampened the spirit in the Warriors’ camp through late payment of allowances and ‘high sounding nothing’ promises.
