THE case of former Movement for Democratic Change Member of Parliament for St Mary’s constituency Marvelous Khumalo took a new twist as he was freed today after the complainant has withdrawn the case.
Zim Morning Post understands that Khumalo has already submitted the two vehicles, a Toyota Hilux single cab and Mazda Demio as repayment.
This comes after Khumalo was arrested yesterday, facing charges of fraud after he duped a Chitungwiza man identified as Joseph Munyonho at least USD7 500 for a residential stand which he claimed was on sale.
Khumalo, who is also the Director for Chitungwiza and Manyame Residents Association (CAMERA), is said to have been selling commercial and residential stands to desperate residents of Chitungwiza.
The matter is said to have occurred on 25 July 2011 in Chitungwiza where Joseph Munyonho paid USD 7 500 to Khumalo for a residential stand in Chitungwiza but it was later discovered that there was a double allocation on the stand.
“On July 25,2011, I bought a stand for USD$7 500 measuring 500square meters from Khumalo and I signed an agreement of sale, but later I was told that the land was a double allocation,” said Munyonho.
