FIFA team assesses Zim football troubles

A FIFA and CAF delegation conducted a week-long investigation of the Zimbabwean football scene, engaging with a variety of stakeholders, and suggesting paths for Zimbabwe’s return to international football.

The task force made it clear that certain demands had to be met for the suspension to be lifted, such as the dismissal of the ZIFA board’s restructuring committee, the reinstatement of ZIFA president, Felton Kamambo and the dropping of fraud charges against him. Much of FIFA’s conditions had been overtaken by events and only one remaining condition posed legal issues.

After positive discussions among all parties, FIFA, CAF and the Sports and Recreation Commission, expressed a will to work together and support Zimbabwe’s return.
