Chikore application for discharge dismissed

Harare Magistrate Victoria Mashamba has ruled that the matter involving the former president’s son-in-law Simba Chikore proceed to the defense case trashing his and his accomplices applications for discharge at the close of the State case.

Mashamba said the court had proven its case so far and the court would only make its ruling after a fully contested trial. She also ruled that Simbarashe Mutimbe has conceded in his defense that he was under instructions to not let Bertha Zakeyo leave the premises.

The matter was rolled over to May 14 for trial continuation.

Chikore together with one Mutimbe allegedly detained the former Zim Airways legal head Zakeyo for over two hours at their premises and they are facing charges of unlawful detention.

They are out on $30 bail.
