At least 200 delegates are set to converge at the fourth Buy Zimbabwe Public Procurement Conference on April 30 2019 at Andy Miller Business Hub, Showgrounds in Harare.
The conference is an annual interface to raise awareness among decision makers, procurement entities and stakeholders on the benefits of local procurement with an emphasis on sustainability and preferential domestic procurement.
The conference also hovers around networking opportunities and feedback and best practical forum for stakeholders and an opportunity to highlight public procurement as a major source of SMEs growth and employment creation.
“Buy Zimbabwe is at the forefront of advocating for a more viable, inclusive, sustainable and internally acceptable industry support system based on incentives for increased value chain based local procurement and disincentives for continued importation of finished products and services,” Buy Zimbabwe said in a statement.
“This year’s event will run under the theme ‘Driving Local Industry through Public procurement achievements, opportunities and challenges.”
Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mthuli Ncube, is set to be the guest of Honour at the event that will focus on enhancing the effectiveness of Public Expenditure for Socio-Economic growth, Enterprise development for inclusive growth, lessons from the private sector, the proposed procurement Index and way forward.
Buy Zimbabwe said “the event will be attended by over 200 delegates from public procurement authorities and local authorities, business leaders, buyers and procurement managers, construction companies, manufacturing companies, extractive companies, non-governmental organisations, parastatals, supply chain managers, the public and service providers.”
