Breaking: Mapeza quits FC Platinum

FC Platinum and three- time Castle Lager championship winning coach Norman Mapeza has on Thursday quit the defending champions.

The Zvishavane based club announced Mapeza’s exit in a press statement.

“FC Platinum Club wishes to announce the departure of Head Coach, Norman Mapeza from the team through a mutual separation agreement.

“Norman has been with the team for the past five years and the club would like to thank him for his professionalism, dedication and commitment to the achievement of the club objectives.

“During his tenure, the club made history by winning back to back league titles and reaching the group stages of the prestigious CAF Champions League.

“The Club Presidium, Fans, Executive, Management, entire technical and playing staff wish him well in his future endeavors. In the interim, Lizwe Sweswe will be the acting Head Coach,” read the statement by club President George Mawere.

 Mapeza is reported to have gone AWOL (absent without official leave) when the team was preparing for their CAF championship encounter with Mozambican side UD Songo in Bulawayo on Saturday.

“He was away throughout the past week and only came today only to tender his resignation letter in the morning. it’s done,” said a source privy to the developments.
