MUTARE – Award winning gospel musician Blessing Shumba, has poured cold water on allegations that he was involved in a kidnapping storm in Mt Selinda this week.
Social media was awash with reports that the Mutare based musician kidnapped a Mount Selinda juvenile(name withheld) in the company of two accomplices.
The motive of the alleged heinous act were not stated in the viral message.
Shumba acknowledged getting wind of the allegations but vehemently denied any involvement nor his presence around the vicinity of Chipinge in the material time.
He attributed the fallacious claims to his rivals and detractors bent on tarnishing his image.
The police in Mutare corroborated with Shumba and submitted that no kidnapping case has been brought to their attention.
Speaking to Zim Morning Post on Thursday, Shumba expressed shock and disbelief.
“I have never been to Mount Selinda of late. I am actually at home as we speak during this lockdown. I am shocked but unmoved. It is the work of the Devil and his followers,” Shumba said.
He added: “l did not kidnap anyone. God does not allow me to do that. The Devil manifests in different forms and in this case, he wanted to tarnish my image. But, he is not going to achieve his agenda.”
The Holy Psalms Of Mutare Band leader, said he was overwhelmed by enquiries.
“I want to thank all my fans and family members who have showed concern by calling me and texting me. I want to thank all Zimbabweans for their concerns and I want to assure them that I am very safe,” he said.
“For how long will l be persecuted by these people. I know it is the work of my detractors who want to tarnish my image and personal integrity,” he added.
The Hama Dzatinadzo hit-maker said the author of the message should seek divine intervention in his life.
