Bar Manager’s Harrowing Ordeal – Ambushed and Robbed of Daily Sales In Daring Raid
In a shocking incident, the manager of a roadside bar in Kambuzuma was robbed at gunpoint while carrying the establishment’s daily sales. Makomborero Bowa, a 33-year-old resident of Belvedere, fell victim to two armed men who intercepted him on Westwood Road.
Armed Robbery at 10 PM
The robbery occurred around 10 PM when Bowa was on his way home after collecting the day’s cash sales from Roadside Bar in Kambuzuma Section 2. As he drove, he noticed a Toyota IST following him. Sensing danger, he attempted to return to the bar but was blocked by a Toyota Alteza.
“Circumstances are that on August 11, at around 2200 hours, complainant was at Roadside Bar Kambuzuma Section 2 after having collected cash amounting to US$1 000 for the day sales. He was driving his car along Westwood, Kambuzumba Section 2, going home. As he was driving, he realised that there was a Toyota IST, following him,” stated Inspector Chakanza.
Terrifying Encounter
Two unidentified men wielding unknown objects emerged from the vehicles and ordered Bowa to remain still. They demanded cash and all his valuables. Fearing for his safety, Bowa handed over approximately US$1,000 in cash, an iPhone 11 Pro cellphone, and 20 liters of Petro Trade fuel coupons.

“Two unidentified men, holding some objects, disembarked from the vehicle and ordered complainant to stand still. They demanded cash and all his valuables,” stated Inspector. “Complainant surrendered cash amounting to US$1000, IPhone 11 Pro cellphone and 20 litres Petro Trade coupons.”
Police Investigation Underway
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident and stated that the police are conducting an investigation into the robbery. The authorities are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and recover the stolen items, reported hmetro.
