UZUMBA Maramba Pfungwe (UMP) residents are happy for the support they are receiving from Caritas, the official Catholic aid agency and Catholic international development charity (Cafod) in the development of their area.
Caritas is receiving support from Cafod towards construction of dams in the dry UMP district.
Speaking to Zim Morning Post, UMP’s Sheillah Mambondiyani expressed her gratitude to the local leadership for their harmonious interaction with Cafod and Caritas to resolve the district’s perennial water woes.
“I want to express my gratitude to our leaders who are working well with Cafod and Caritas towards provision of water in the district. Water is life and we now have life in our area,” Mambondiyani said.
The traditional leadership in arid UMP also expressed satisfaction, saying water challenges were now a thing of the past as they were now even venturing into vegetable farming.
“We used to have water problems, but I want to express my gratitude to Cafod and Caritas for helping us. We are now into vegetable farming,” Chief Chipiyamiti said.
