Supreme court judge Chinembiri Bhunu has a number of cases with outstanding judgements which are almost 15 years old, the Zim Morning Post can report.
This came out during Constitutional court judges public interviews where the chief Justice Luke Malaba asked Bhunu “how he thinks he will give justice to the cases.”
Malaba appeared to have been angered by Bhunu who seemed to have completely lost memory of some of the cases.
Bhunu is well known for his rulings against members of the opposition, MDC-T.
On 6 September 2016 Bhunu passed a judgment after 5 years on the MDC supporters who were convicted of killing a police officer.
Yvonne Musarurwa, Tungamirai Madzokere, and Last Maengahama were sentenced to 20 years in jail each while Phineas Nhatarikwa was given a three year wholly suspended sentence on condition he is not an accessory for any offense in five years. He was also fined $500, or serve for 3 months.
Musarurwa, Madzokere, and Maengahama were found guilty of murder with the actual intent of a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Inspector Petros Mutedzi.
