ZTA is set to hold its inaugural international road shows interacting with Diasporans in a series of road shows in the United Kingdom. The shows coincide with the Netball world cup games.

The authority’s main emphasis is to charm them to come back home and invest in the economy especially within the tourism sector .

“In a first-ever United Kingdom road show for Zimbabwe, the country’s tourism sector is set to hold a series of engagements with Zimbabweans living abroad with the emphasis for them to come back home and invest in the economy especially within the tourism sector,” read part of the statement released on Friday.

“The road show will take place from July 9 to July 19, and is scheduled for London, Glasglow, Liverpool, Huntingdon, Manchester and Birmingham.

“The first of its kind road show will take place from July 9 to 19, in line with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) strategy to involve Zimbabweans abroad in developing the country, build awareness of our seven wonders and to enhance participation in economic development back home.”

“The roadshows are scheduled for London, Glasglow, Liverpool, Huntingdon, Manchester and Birmingham and will witness intensive engagements with the diaspora community, tourism associations, media and the travel trade,” further reads the statement.

Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Priscah Mupfumira alongside Excellency Ambassador Colonel (Rtd.) Christian Katsande, Acting Chief Executive of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Rita Likukuma, will lead the campaign.

Recent reports indicate that excessive pricing has made Zimbabwe’s tourism industry uncompetitive and continues to threaten viability and growth of the sector hence the campaign is set to boost the market.
