Zimbabwe takes delivery of 18 search and rescue helicopters

HARARE – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has taken delivery of 18 helicopters purchased from the Russian Federation. Of the 18, 12 are Air ambulances designed for medical rescue while 6 are designed for law enforcement (policing duties). The fleet will reach 32 by year 2025.

The President said the aircraft will be used for Disaster Management, policing and wild life protection duties.

Russian defence tech company, Rostec said Zimbabwe had ordered a total of 50 choppers, saying “this will be a large-scale cooperation project between Russia and Zimbabwe”
