The Zimbabwe Ambassador to Malawi, Her Excellency Dr Nancy Saungweme, on Wednesday hosted business leaders who showcased their products at the just-ended Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.
The business leaders attended the ZITF where they were sourcing regional markets for their products manufactured in Malawi.
The meeting which took place at the recently refurbished Zimbabwe House in Lilongwe saw several business leaders expressing interest in investing in Zimbabwe.
One business entity, SSS investment, is sending a delegation to Zimbabwe on Monday to explore investment opportunities.
In an interview after the meeting in Lilongwe, SSS Investment managing Director Salim Sakrani told Zim Morning Post that his delegation will be leaving for Harare on Monday.

“We are leaving for Harare on Monday to explore business opportunities. We are expressing our gratitude to Her Excellency Ambassador Saungweme for leading the business discussion.”
Dr Saungweme urged the business leaders to continue exploring for regional opportunities as well as to increase their market bases.
“My President (Emmerson Mnangagwa) opened the business space in Zimbabwe. He is on record that Zimbabwe is open for business and I encourage you to continue exploring ways to grow your businesses in my country,” she said.
“I saw you before you left for the Trade Fair and I am happy that you are back and giving us this report. We will continue to engage the people of Malawi and Zimbabwe so that all stumbling blocks in the promotion of trade are eliminated.”
“I am passionate about business and what I want to push during my tenure is economic diplomacy,” Dr Saungweme told Zim Morning Post.
Economic diplomacy is the use of government recourses to promote the growth of a country’s economy by increasing trade, promoting investments, collaboration on bilateral and multilateral trade agreements.
The business leaders handed a trophy of appreciation to the Ambassador.
“This is our appreciation. Let it be kept here in the trophy cabinet and it shows we went and came back happy,” said the group leader Mr Mwale.
