Update:ZACC commissioners sworn in

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has on Monday sworn in eight Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) commissioners at State House.

The commissioners were drawn from diverse backgrounds as the government steps up its fight against corruption reinforced by bestowing arresting powers to ZACC recently.

It also includes three women including the chairperson in  spirit of gender balance

The eight commissioners are former parliamentarian Jessie Majome, John Makamure,Mabel Hungwe, controversial politician Gabriel Chaibva, soldier  Michael Dennis Santu and Kuziva Phineas Murapa.

The newly appointed ZACC chairperson Loice Matanda-Moyo has vowed to stamp out corruption and has called for government to beef up the body with more resources.

At last 38 high profile corruption cases are under investigations with the first victim Simon Taranhike, ZINARA financial director being arraigned before the courts.
