FORMER Energy and Power Development Minister Samuel Undenge who was in 2018 convicted of abuse of office, has been committed to 30 months in prison.
This comes after Undenge’s appeal at the High Court rejected.
The High Court found that the sentence was not excessive and did not induce any sense of shock and outrage.
Undenge was sentenced to an effective two-and-a-half years in prison he was also facing charges of abuse of office and was convicted after a full trial.
On June 11 a warrant of arrest was issued against him after the rejection his appeal by the High Court.
In 2018 Undenge was sentenced to four years in prison; with one-and-a-half years suspended on condition he does not commit a similar crime.
Undenge in 2016 handpicked a public relations company owned by ZANU PF legislator Psychology Maziwisa without going to tender.
On Friday Undenge appeared at the Harare magistrate’ court before senior regional magistrate Trynos Utahwashe in the company of his lawyer Alec Muchadehama.
