Smuggling: Popular Madzibaba Simba arrested at RGM Airport
SIMBARASHE Nengomasha, popularly known as Madzibaba Simba, was on Friday nabbed by an alert security at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International (RGMI) Airport while in possession of more than US$10 000 for repatriation, Zim Morning Post can report.
Madzibaba Simba was reportedly en route to South Africa.
According to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Act, the maximum amount of foreign currency allowed for repatriation is US$2 500.
Sources at the RGMI Airport who confided in this publication said after arresting the popular prophet, security at the airport then alerted the RBZ who immediately dispatched their team.
Madzibaba Simba, on being questioned why he had forex in excess of US$2 500, said the extra US$7 500 was meant to cover funeral expenses for one of their church members who had recently passed on in South Africa.
“The extra money on me is meant to cover the costs of one of our church members who recently passed on in South Africa,” he said.
Last week, the Zimbabwe Miners Federation boss, Henrietta Rushwaya, was arrested at the same airport after she reportedly tried to smuggle about 6kg of gold to Dubai.
Rushwaya and six others are currently in remand prison where they await the outcomes of their bail applications.
