Sheasham chairman in ‘indecent assault’ storm as sexual scandals continue to hit Gweru club

The integrity of the Gweru-based Sheasham FC is under fire after a compromising video of the club’s chairman Reginald Chidawanyika in his office with a young girl, appeared on social media.

Questions sent to Clever Mandaza, the club’s owner, were unanswered at the time this article was published, and attempts to reach Chidawanyika for comment were unsuccessful.

In the video, Chidawanyika commands the young girl, whose age is unknown, to pause for him sexually.

Chidawanyika can be seen kissing the young girl passionately on the face and neck in a different self-shot video.

The adulterous recordings, according to Chidawanyika’s family, have caused them a tremendous deal of embarrassment.

The case comes, a few months after a sexual assault scandal hit the club.

Early last year, the club was accused of forcing out their then club medic after she raised alarm that she had been allegedly sexually harassed by coach John Nyikadzino as well asl by the club’s players.

Club chairman Chidawanyika was said to have been told about the matter but failed to extend any protection and instead allegedly presided over her hounding out of the club.

Emily Agnes King, a club medic at the time, announced her resignation in a letter dated March 2022, Zim Morning Post can report.

She cited a hostile work climate and intimidation from numerous claimed sexual harassment incidents.

“I want to resign because of 1.)Sexual harassment from my superiors and some players (when I made a report to my superiors they took no action cause it is one of their favourites) upon making the report working conditions for me changed,” she wrote.

“Secondly, my duties were constantly changed and done by other fellow workers and later I was being accused of not doing my duties. I was not allowed to request for anything concerning my first aid kit. I was not allowed to collect anything from the manager concerning my first aid kit, (once I collected medical items from the bar for my kit, Mr Moyo was sent to inform me that Ma’am you are not collecting items anymore from the bar because things are being
stolen and Mr Moyo had to sign for medical items and yet Mr Moyo from what I understand is just the fitness trainer..

“I am constantly being followed around ,guarded when in camping and on the ground Reason unknown to me, even after work I am constantly being monitored and what I do after work is being addressed the next day at work .

“I did not know that working at Sheasham F.C one is isolated and restricted to socialise or communicate with fellow subordinates.

“During camping my room is being monitored or someone is literally standing by my door. Generally majority of the times when there is an issue that needs to be addressed it is swept under the carpet and there is tension and one is alienated, stigmatised and mocked.”

She added, the vast majority of the time, when a problem needs to be resolved, it is brushed under the rug, causing friction and leading to alienation, stigmatization, and mockery.

“In conclusion I see no reason for me to continue working at the football club and cannot continue cause of the tense environment, hence there is nobody I feel I can trust that can address this issue because it is more than complicated and has been going on for the past 3 months,” she wrote.
