Jesus Generation Ministries founder Prophet Edd Branson’s philanthropy and championing of citizens diplomacy has seen him been appointed Director/Commissioner African Cultural Diversity and Entrepreneurship by the Global Diplomatic Council and International Commission of Diplomacy.
The Global Diplomatic Council is a Global Think Tank that has a goal to link diplomacy, business leaders, science’s leading minds and society’s front-runners in resolving mankind’s biggest challenges.
Prophet Edd has silently spearheaded philanthropic activities through his Edd Branson foundation and has also engaged top international businesspeople in his pursuit to invite foreign investments in the country through his diverse business exploits.
Branson said he was humbled with the appointment and he will use it to effect transformational social change in Africa.
Addressing journalists in the capital on Thursday , Branson said it is every citizen’s role to represent the cause of the country in line with citizen diplomacy concept.
Citizen diplomacy is the political concept of citizens engaging as representatives of a country or cause.
Said Branson:
“When I accepted this role, I heeded to a call which is the basis of transformational social change, not just on the continent of Africa and among Africans in the diaspora, but also in all other societies of the human race. I extract from the Bible the “mind of Christ”, displaying Christ’s life of excellence, humility and service to all.
“This is the pinnacle of my desire which should illuminate the resident ignorance in humanity – and start believing in ourselves – and start having self-confidence in our capabilities – and unleash our inherent greatness,” he said.
“If we fail on this, we might short-change other citizens in not partaking in the full realisation of prosperity. On other cases, some would be left out in reaping and enjoying the fruits that are achieved through these God given virtues.
“It is against this background that I urge people – I call on all of us, to become representative citizens of a nation that is goal oriented and have a change that will be the offshoot of a new mind-set,” he added.
Branson said it is a call to duty for every citizen at this juncture to be an Ambassador and a driver towards the unity of a people who speak with one voice and walk in the same spirit to achieve positive development and prosperity for the country.
He also slammed political violence and said it was retrogressive to progress and effective participation of the citizens in socio-economic development.
“This has been a tool used by people from various political formations and orientations to disturb peace and tranquillity.
“Resultantly, this evil affects the economy as global investments would not be attracted in destinations that sign-post division within itself. Innocent ordinary citizens have felt the brunt of the restrictive measures,” he said.
The government endorsed the appointment and said it was vital for citizens to complement government efforts of re-engagement.
Acting Deputy Director Multilateral Affairs , Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Mutsigiri Vimbai Gukwe spoke on behalf of the minister and hailed the appointment.
