Nduna sues Mliswa for US$10 million for defamation of character

Aggrieved Chegutu West Legislator Dexter Nduna has filed for a $10 million lawsuit against outspoken independent Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa.

This comes after social media was taken by storm after a short video that revealed a verbal altercation among MPs in the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines that Mliswa exploded into a rant accusing Nduna of siphoning $11 million from the Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (Zinara) circulated.

In the summon submitted to the High Court stamped February 12, Nduna is suing for defamation of character and demanding $10 million plus interest depending on the rate of the day against the United States Dollar. Nduna aalleges that Mliswa’s utterances had injured his reputation in the eyes of the general populace and the international community at large.

Mliswa is caught on camera questioning why Nduna has been allowed to continue as chairperson of a parliamentary committee while speaker of parliament Jacob Mudenda was quick to establish an internal team to investigate what he described as “media reports of corruption” against the Norton MP.

“Nduna, a thief who stole $11 million from Zinara is given a committee to chair, because he used to eat with the Speaker (Mudenda),” said Mliswa.

After the unrestrained rant in which Mliswa claims the committee on Mines “is captured because some of us like you (MP) Zhou and Svuure you got tickets from Cape Town. You can go on and record. This committee is captured.”
