Minister of labour, public service and social welfare, Sekai Nzenza, has thrown incarcerated Tourism minister Priscah Mupfumira under the bus amid reports that she could not release the National Social Security Authority (Nssa) forensic audit report to the public because “it contained criminal elements,” the Zim Morning Post has heard.
This comes on the backdrop of reports that Nzenza is on the run following the arrest of Mupfumira on Thursday by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc).
Nzenza recently refused to release the Nssa forensic audit report to parliament.
Insiders said Nzenza has been protecting Mupfumira who is alleged to have paid her not to release the report.
“My understand is that she took the approach that the forensic audit has criminal elements that had to be managed by ZACC while her team of six lawyers led by Thabani Mpofu is unpacking it and she will present a report to parliament when that is done,” said the source.
Sources also said Nzenza is likely to issue a press statement denying that she has been protecting Mupfumira.
