Harare– MDC Alliance has endorsed the meeting which was called on Tuesday by President Emmerson Mnangagwa wherein he invited all the presidential candidates to engage in dialogue and map way forward.
Sources who attended the National Executive Council (NEC) council meeting on Wednesday afternoon confirmed to this publication that the Party is set to appoint a delegation which will attend the meeting which has been slated today.
The names of the members of the delegation could not be immediately ascertained as deliberations were still underway in a closed door meeting at the time of publishing.
The source said Chamisa will send proxies but he is likely attend a prayer meeting which has been called by Zimbabwe Council of Churches to be held on Thursday morning at a local hotel.
“He is most likely attending tomorrow’s meeting with churches this one they might send delegation.” said the source.
The decision of sending emissaries or in fact accepting the invitation , comes as a dramatic U-Turn from the MDC-A president from his earlier sentiments he submitted on social media.
Chamisa writing on his microblogging site twitter page dismissed the dialogue saying it was not a dialogue but games.
“Dialogue Not Games..We have a political crisis arising out of a disputed and rigged Presidential election result in Zimbabwe. The Presidency is disputed . we need genuine dialogue under a credible Convener and mediator to solve this crisis.Stop citizens abuses beatings and arrests.” tweeted Chamisa.
Political commentator Dr Pedzisai Ruhanya questioned some of the political parties who have been invited at this indaba.
“ED (President Emmerson Mnangagwa) calls for dialogue with political parties that got less votes than spoiled ballots ,lost to spoiled ballots , they don’t even have the mandate of spoiled ballots ,who do they represent?” questioned Dr Ruhanya
