Kelly Khumalo to set Garwe reopening alight

The red carpet will be rolled out to guests tonight at the reopening of Garwe Restaurant located in Eastlea headlined by South African reality TV star and musician Kelly Khumalo of the Empini fame.

The restaurant had closed doors in 2018 to pave way for massive renovations following US$2 million capital injection as Zimbabwe prepares for post-Covid 19 era.

Previously, Garwe Restaurant was popular among diners for its signature traditional dishes.

“The relaunch has not only brought back the traditional dishes but also an addition of western styles on the menu, a real treat for gastronomic adventure. The revamped Garwe Restaurant can sit 200 diners at any given time enjoying while observing the Covid-19 protocols,” Garwe Restaurant said in a statement.

“Added to this, Garwe Restaurant now boasts a well-stocked bar for those who love to eat and drink alcoholic beverages.”

Owner Mandy Mvukwe-Chimhini was elated with the reopening.

“We are delighted to be back as one if the finest restaurants in the country. We have put together an exceptional line up for a beautiful event tonight. We have the privilege of hosting one of Africa’s finest musicians, Kelly Khumalo,” said Mvukwe-Chimhini, Garwe.

“She has confirmed that she will be joining us. We are looking forward to offering our local Zimbabweans and international guests the best of Zimbabwean, African and Western cuisine. As we positively contribute to the growth and promotion of culinary activities and tourism industry. Our hope is to contribute effectively to the 5 billion dollar tourism economy and ultimately realise vision 2030.”
