Jostling for Glenview South seat rocks MDC

Fresh turmoil has rocked the Neslon Chamisa-led MDC amid reports of serious jostling for the Glenview South seat which became vacant following the death of legislator Vimbai Tsvangirai.

Insiders say serious jostling is hotting up as fresh fissures between Chamisa and his deputy Tendai Biti have once again emerged following disagreements over who should replace the late legislator.

Sources say Chamisa prefers Vincent Tsvangirai, brother to Vimbai, to take over the seat so as to maintain the Tsvanigirai legacy while Biti is routing for his close ally Paul Madzore.

Zim Morning Post also understands that Fadzai Mahere has also her eyes on the seat despite her recent post that she is not interested in becoming the Glenview South legislator. Mahere was not reachable for a comment.

Government has gazetted September 7 as the day for holding the by-elections.

In the build up to the 2018 elections the opposition Party was rocked by reports of imposition of candidates for both Parliamentary and local government elections and it frequently led to double candidacy.
