HSB fires more doctors amid chaotic scenes in Zim hospitals

INFORMATION minister Monica Mutsvangwa on Tuesday announced the dismissal from work of at least 440 junior and middle level doctors by the Hospital Services Board (HSB).

The announcement was made soon after a Cabinet meeting, implying concurrence at the highest level of government.

This brings to almost 500 the number of medical practitioners fired so far by the HSB.

The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association declared a deadlock with the HSB around September, and their members have been on industrial action since then.

Zim Morning Post understands that some of the fired doctors have already started trickling out to other countries where their services are said to be in demand.
