MUTARE – Sungura musician Hosiah Chipanga has thrown his hat among four candidates vying for the Dangamvura/Chikanga constituency after the nomination court approved their candidatures in Mutare on Wednesday.
Chipanga, 70, will be representing a new party – Patriotic Zimbabwe in the March 26 by-elections.
The parliamentary seat became vacant after Prosper Mutseyami the Member of Parliament under the MDC Alliance was recalled by the Douglas Mwonzora led MDC-T party.
Three new parties will be crossing the swords for political supremacy in an election that has been described as ‘explosive.’
Anesu Zaranyika will be representing a new party called MA’AT.
According to the President of the new party, Neferkare Nembaware , MA’AT does not have an acronym, but it is an ancient Afrikaans word that means ‘those of straight or upright ways.’
Another new baby – Citizens Coalition For Change – led by Nelson Chamisa will be represented by Mutseyami.
The MDC – Alliance led by Mwonzora has fielded Taurai Mudzipurwa.
Zanu PF has maintained faith in Isau Mupfumi who won the party’s primary elections held last week after defeating Clide Jani.
