Baltemar Brito, Highlanders head coach has been named by ZIFA Nomination committee to assume the role of interim coach for the Warriors (Zimbabwe Senior Men’s National Team).

ZIFA Approaches Highlanders for Release

ZIFA has written to Highlanders, seeking permission for Brito to serve as interim coach. The request acknowledges his employment and highlights integrity, appealing for Highlanders’ support in this crucial role.

“The Nomination Committee would like to request your Executive permission to engage one of your employees in the name of Brito Baltemar Jose Oliveira for a possible appointment as the interim Senior Men National Team Coach,” ZIFA wrote. “Whereas he indicated he is a permanent employee of your esteemed organisation, it is in that light of integrity we hereby pray you shall find it beneficial to release him for the envisaged national duty during their interim nomination period.”

Brito’s Impressive Track Record at Bosso

Brito, who took over as Highlanders coach last year, has enjoyed notable success in his tenure. He has guided the team to an impressive unbeaten streak of 19 games this season.

Highlanders Chairman, Johnfat Sibanda, expressed pride in Brito’s appointment. He affirmed the club’s unwavering support for him in his new role with the national team.

A Historic Opportunity for Warriors

With Brito at the helm, Zimbabwe will resume its quest for a maiden qualification to the FIFA World Cup finals. Placed in Group C of the qualifying campaign, the Warriors will face Nigeria, South Africa, Benin, Lesotho, and Rwanda. Boss’s head-coach initial challenge awaits in an away match against Rwanda scheduled for November this year.
