HARARE City Council (HCC) has dismissed reports that its nurses have mooted taking industrial action in protest of meagre salaries , Zim Morning Post has learnt.
HCC human capital director Retired Major Matthew Marara said HCC nurses enjoy a cordial relationship with management and will not be going on strike as peddled by some sections of the media.
“We have cordial relations with our employees as a result of the sound industrial relations mechanism which we have in place “It is not true that the City of Harare nurses are on go-slow over non-payment of salaries and poor working conditions as salaries and poor working conditions,” he said.
“The nurses concerned have always been executing their duties in a normal way although they have raised concern of their salaries due to hyper-inflationary environment to currently prevailing in the country ,but albeit in a procedural manner,” he added.
He further said the council has already engaged workers’ representatives and has committed to pay salaries on the 28th of every month after reaching a mutual agreement.
