THE Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has increased petrol and diesel prices effective Monday, Zim Morning Post can report.
In a statement, ZERA said with immediate effect the price of petrol has been increased from $9.09 to $9.12 with a slight increase of 3 cents per litre and diesel from $9.27to $9.36 with a slight increase of 9cents per litre.
According to the state-controlled energy entity, “the changes in the fuel process are due to FOB (Free on Board) price movements and the revised duty regime(S161 of 2019)”
“ Operator may ,however, sell at prices below the cap depending on their trading advantages,” read part of the statement.
The prices of petrol and diesel have been going up almost every week and Zimbabwe is currently experiencing serious foreign currency shortages.
The increases has seen transport woes worsening with travellers paying up to ZWL5 for a trip to Chitungwiza.
