HARARE — Four people died following a horrific road traffic accident involving three motor vehicles along Old Mazowe Road at Willowcreak, Harare on Friday.
Four others are battling life threatening injuries.
Police have indentified the deceased as Edson Charangwa a male adult who was driving a maroon mazda 3 registration.
He lost his life along with passengers Moffat Tizora, Cosmas Abiru (rear passenger) and Malachia Madimutsa a sales consultant Leengate land developers.
The second party Elijah Moyo who was travelling along old Mazowe Road due West, driving a Nissan Elgrand with two passengers on board, sustained head injuries.
The third party is yet to be identified and was driving a Mitshubish canter registration number ADJ9454 white in colour.
Circumstances are that Charangwa was trying to overtake the third party and had a head on collision.
He then went to hit the third party who lost control of the vehicle and landed off the road.
“The first party (Charangwa) who is now deceased was trapped in his motor vehicle sustained severe head injuries and by the time his body was retrieved by fire rescuers of City of Harare he was already dead,” reads a police memo that detailed the aftermath of the accident.
“The first party had four passengers of which two died at the spot and one died at Parirenyatwa hospital.
“The passengers were Moffat Tizora, Malachia Madimutsa and Cosmas Abiru. The second party sustained head injuries and was complaining of chest pains. He had two passengers who sustained minor injuries.
“The second party’s passengers were ferried to unknown hospital and details yet to be recorded. The third party was complaining of chest pains and head injuries and was ferried to Parirenyatwa hospital by a well wisher and his condition is stable.”
Injured

2 Elton Moyo (driver) second party’s vehicle,sustained head injuries .Res adress number 9 Jiti Zvikomborero compound,Next of kin father Laxon Moyo cell 0772744062 was at the hospital .Condition stable.

4 The driver of the third party and other occupants were not located at the hospital since they were said to have gone to Mabvuku.
